Is there any reason to blog if you have nothing original to say about a subject?Everything that is important has already been said before but since nobody was listening I have to say it again.
This is the mantra I repeat to myself when I’m about to write a blog post and don’t know what to write about or doubt my originality. Look at this question. I can guarantee if you posted it on Google, you would find tons of similar questions, articles and posts about this topic. But still, you found it relevant to ask this question today. In fact, just for kicks I posted this question on Google myself and had 299 million hits. So the same is with answers and blog posts. Even though you will find thousands of similar posts, the posts that is your and yours alone will still be original. Somebody wiser than me said that nobody who worries about being original will ever attain true originality. Instead, it’s better and more productive to focus on simply helping people and inspiring them, giving them one more reason to get out of bed in the morning. Think about your blogging efforts this way. Can you just be helpful to your future readers? Can you look for interesting questions on Quora and write answers about that? They in reality can be your blog posts. One more thing: if you could provide a real-life example from your experience that is related to your blog topic, this would make it original, wouldn’t it? This morning, for example, I wrote a blog post about my experience of teaching one student play the pipe organ. A few days ago I listened to him play and his playing sounded bad. I thought why and gave him my advice on how to improve. Then I went home and wrote a title for a draft blog post so that I won’t forget to write it later. So this morning I wrote it and scheduled it to be published tomorrow. Sure, I’ve heard hundreds of similar mistakes when people play on the pipe organ. And I’ve written hundreds of similar blog posts about these mistakes and how to avoid them. But this specific example was unique for this specific student. I hope this post helped him and others with similar problems. That’s all there is to it. I have no doubt you can do the same.
